Irregular Incurve(Thesis): Irregular Incurve is a MIDI Controllable robotic string instrument composed of twelve independent single stringed units. Irregular Incurve has a similar construction structure as acoustic guitar. Instead of mounting strings on the neck, each string is mounted on an independent steel pipe. The steel pipes are fixed onto a curved shower rod by 3 pieces acrylic panels. Twelve controllable arms are mounted on the shower rod as well, which can pluck the strings by moving guitar picks.

EXHIBITION EXPERIENCE
Colorful Melody in 2007 ITP Winter Show & ITP Fall Gallery, 2008.9-Present
“Colorful Melody” is an interactive music generator based on the viewers color identity. It changes
melody by analyzing this information from live image capture of users’ physical movement.
Steppers in 2007 ITP Winter Show, 2007.12
“Steppers” were designed to get kids up on their feet, moving, and playing with sound and music. An
external sensor sandal is worn over a child's shoes, noting each footstep, and, in real time, playing
back sound effects/music to compliment their movements.
Beat Blocks in 2007 ITP Winter Show & ITP Spring Gallery, 2008.1-2008.5
“Beat Blocks” are wireless real-time audio controllers built to allow a more natural control of musical
dynamics for musical performance
Each block is a 4" cube made of wood and hollowed out to fit the circuitry
In Your Hands in 2007 ITP Winter Show, 2007.12
“In Your Hands" was based on motion detection of video camera
A video camera will detect your two hand’s position and draw horoscope texts between two hands
